    SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER, and NOVEMBER 2011

Welcome to the start of a new school year and a special welcome to all new GSA families!

    IMPORTANT DATES/EVENTS

    First HSA Meeting – Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.

Class Parents – Thank you to all parents who have volunteered to be Class Parents.  For
those parents whose names have been draw and will serve as Class Parents for this school
year, our Class Parent orientation meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 19 at 7:00
p.m. in the GSA Conference Room.  For those parents whose names were not drawn, thank
    you very much for volunteering.

Service Contract Reminder - If your signed Service Contract was not returned to
Roberta Boland, HSA President, by Friday, September 30, 2011, the $200.00 fee in lieu of
service will be automatically added to your tuition payment.  Please remember, your
assistance is what we need to make all our events a success!

HSA Dues - Please send in your check in the amount of $15.00, made payable to GSA
HSA, as soon as possible to the attention of Lisa Zigarelli, Treasurer, c/o GSA Office.

Box Tops - Our Summer Box Tops drive is complete.  As mentioned in the paper that was
sent home in September, we are able to raise $20,000 each year just by clipping Box Tops
from participating products.  Please ask friends, family and co-workers to clip for your child’
s school.  Another great place to look for Box Tops is the supply department at work as
Avery now has Box Tops on some of their products.  Box Tops collection sheets are sent
home at various times during the school year, however, please feel free to submit Box Tops
to the GSA office at any time.

Halloween Costume Fundraiser - www.wholesalecostumeclub.com – Promo Code
GSA1.  Purchase your Halloween costumes on-line at wholesale prices with $4.99 flat rate
shipping, regardless of how many costumes you order, and encourage your friends and
family to do the same by October 26, 2011, and GSA will receive 15% of sales.  If you
should have any questions, please contact Chairperson Jo-Ellen Houck at
    joellen1023@comcast.net.

Annual Trunk or Treat Event - Parents are invited to participate by decorating their cars
and providing candy for the children.  Children go trick or treating from trunk to trunk.
There is a limit of 50 cars and a sign-up sheet will go home to parents through the Head
Class Parent for your child’s grade later this month.

Frozen Pie Sale – Our Frozen Pie Sale will begin on November 3 and Chairperson Tanya
Edghill will be sending home papers on that day so you can choose from the many delicious
pies and treats that can be ordered.

Multicultural Night – Saturday, November 5, 1:00 p.m. in GSA gym with set-up Friday,
November 4 at 7:00 p.m.  Parents will be receiving a flyer regarding purchasing tickets and
Chairperson Carmen Dalton will be contacting those families that signed up for this event
shortly.  Please come to this event to get to know your fellow parents while enjoying good
food, music and a good time.  Friends and family are welcome.

Book Fair I – Week of November 14.. Children will have the opportunity to look at,
purchase books or make a wish list, and parents and children will also have the opportunity
to purchase books before or after our Second HSA meeting on Wednesday, November
    16th.

Tricky Tray – May 4, 2012 – GSA’s largest and most lucrative fundraiser which requires
lots of help to be successful.  Volunteers are needed to assist on various subcommittees as
this is an extremely large undertaking!  This school year’s theme will be “A Night At The
Movies.”  Chairperson, Maria McCafferty will be contacting families that have signed up to
assist regarding meetings, subcommittees and various other tricky tray related items soon.

Please remember that statistics show that children whose parents are involved in their child’
    s school do better academically.
